Salmon Bay Foundry

A few manhole covers are the last reminders of the Salmon Bay Foundry. They're rare, even in this neighborhood — but you can find a few along 70th between 24th and 32nd. This photo is from 70th and Earl.

I couldn’t find much information about the foundry online, except the Seattle Historical Photograph Collection has an image of the abandoned building from 1975 which says:

“The Salmon Bay Foundry Co., built in 1902, was originally used to make molds and cast iron. Today the building stands deserted.”

There’s nothing at the foundry’s old address now.
