Paul Vosper: Technical Artist

It’s not so much that I wanted to tell you something, but that I didn’t want this to slip away (November 2019)

I spent several days developing a patch randomizing sequential patterns. It’s really very simple, but I kept changing the sound sources, filters and modulation as I found a better understanding of what was happening within the patch. Although there was intention, I never really settled on what it "should" be doing - so eventually I just ran out of time and started tearing everything down. As I was doing so, I realized that I wanted to capture the drone and what I had been doing with it. Not because the piece itself is particularly listenable, but because of the sounds of exploration. You can think of it as notes from the field - very much like a plien-aire painting.
